November 12, 2013Aluminum branch electrical wiring is a common issue of concern at some 1960 to 1970s vintage apartment complexes. The presence of aluminum branch wiring presents a potential safety concern, with numerous instances of electrical related fires resulting from the problematic aluminum wire connection. Repair options have included rewiring the building or installing special “pigtails” which result in a short section of copper wiring being added.
A new, low cost aluminum wire connector has recently been introduced to the market. The Alumiconn connection system is inexpensive, easy to install and does not require specialized tools. This system is also approved by the Consumer Products Safety Commission. More information can be obtained at http://www.kinginnovation.com/products/electrical-products/alumiconn/.
